During crystalline-silicon solar cell string welding, laser displacement sensors monitor ribbon tension fluctuation in real time without contact. By detecting ribbon position, vibration amplitude, and offset with high precision, the system keeps welding-section tension stable and controllable, preventing cold solder joints, offset, or broken grid lines caused by tension fluctuation and improving welding consistency and yield.
The 0BB process greatly increases the number of ribbons that must be monitored on each stringer. Laser distance sensors need a smaller footprint and compact structure to fit limited installation space and support multi-channel parallel detection without mechanical interference.

In PV module loading and unloading equipment, laser distance sensors detect whether wafers are present and feed signals to downstream mechanisms for scheduled actions. In laser grooving machines, the equipment automatically engraves independent narrow grooves on the silicon wafer surface to prepare for embedded-electrode grid processes. After a suction cup grips a wafer, it places the wafer in a carrier box while the previous wafer is being grooved. To ensure reliable gripping, wafer presence must be detected to confirm successful pickup. Because the target is non-metallic silicon material, traditional detection is easily disturbed, so laser distance sensors and an anti-interference design are required for stable and accurate in-position detection.
